One of his [Billy Wilder's] jokes was about the casting of The Defiant Ones, a movie in which a black man and a white man (eventually played by Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis) were handcuffed together. Billy said, “First they went to Marlon Brando and asked him to be in the movie. Marlon said, ‘Yes, I’ll be in it, but I want to play the black man.’ Then they went to Robert Mitchum, and Mitchum said, ‘Hell, I’m not going to be in any picture with no nigger.’ So then they went to Kirk Douglas, and asked him to be in he picture, and Douglas said, ‘Yes, I’ll be in it. But I want to play both parts’”.

Мне она наоборот по какой-то необъяснимой причине казалась не слишком приятной, а Дуглас очень тепло о ней пишет.

Ой, ну я не знаю. После "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" я не готов про Тирни вообще :)
